United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials

Future Plans

The launch of the UKNIWM website is just the start of a series of projects we hope to achieve over the next few years.

To enhance the material we have and make more of it available on line we have a number of projects in the pipeline for which we need to find funds to be able to make them happen. These projects are as follows:

Digitisation: We intend to digitise at least one image per memorial and add supplementary material like unveiling programmes.

Education: We want to develop educational resources for all users, young and old, using the material we have in the archive as well as other relevant sources.

Mapping: We would like to develop map based searching for war memorials recorded on the database.

Personal Names Inputting: We have now computerised the First World War names that we have in the archive but we will need to input the names of those killed in other conflicts and those First World War names that were omitted as they had not been sent to us at the time of the data entry.
