Why can’t I find a memorial?
 
There are a number of reasons as to why a memorial you are looking for might not appear:

• We use the 1974 county boundaries so the place you are looking for could be in a different county to the one it is in today. Try removing the county name from your search and try again or look at the map link to see which county is will have been recorded under.
• Have you checked the spelling? Some places, particularly in Wales and Scotland are known by two names. We have tried to use the local name when known but it might be in its English form
• Have you removed the hyphens and other punctuation from the place name? These have been replaced by a space on the database. Remove the punctuation and try again
• Is the place known by another name? This is especially the case in larger towns and cities. Either search under the main place name or widen your search to the whole district
• We have not been sent a record of it. Our survey is still on-going so it might be we have not been sent information about it. If you have any details that you could send us please go to the following page (link)
