TWO STEPPED SQUARE BASE SURMOUNTED BY STEPPED PLINTH, PEDESTAL AND FIGURE OF A SERVICEMAN STANDING IN THE ADVANCE POSITION WITH FIXED BAYONET. INSCRIPTION IN GOLD LETTERING ON THE SIDES OF THE PEDESTAL.

THE SOLDIER FIGURE IS THE SAME AS ON THE MEMORIAL AT BRIERLEY HILL (NIWM 17472). IT WAS MODELLED ON MR STANLEY HARLEY FROM BRIERLEY HILL WHO WAS CHOSEN TO POSE FOR THE FIGURE AS HE WAS THE FIRST BRIERLEY HILL MAN TO BE AWARDED THE DCM. |
