THE HEADQUARTERS WAS/ ESTABLISHED AT UPPER CHINE SCHOOL AND THE/ COMMANDO WAS BILLETED IN SHANKLIN, SANDOWN AND/ VENTNOR. THE COMMANDO WAS BILLETED IN SHANKLIN, SANDOWN AND/ VENTNOR. THE COMMANDO SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK PART IN/ THE INVASION OF SICILY AND ITALY, IN OPERATIONS/ IN YUGOSLAVIA AND THE FINAL DEFEAT OF THE GERMAN/ ARMY IN NORTHERN ITALY
DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF/ COLONEL NEAL MAUDE R.M./ SERVED WITH 40 R.M. COMAMNDO FEB 42 - AUG 44/ DIED 30TH MAY 1987/ IT IS DUE TO HIS EFFORTS THAT THIS MEMORIAL WAS RAISED
