PERSONNEL CREWED 97 BRITISH AND AMERICAN ATTACK TRANSPORTS, AND LANDING SHIPS/ CREWED LANDING CRAFT AT ALL BEACH HEADS AND PROVIDED THE SOLE D-DAY MARITIME RESCUE/ SERVICE, OFTEN/ UNDER THE SEVEREST FIRE. THE U.S.C.G. SAVED THE LIVES OF/ 1,438 ALIED SERVICEMEN IN THE NORMANDY ASSAULT/ AREA DUING THE INVASION./ UNVEILED BY CAPTAIN SOMERS U.S.C.G.
