BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH AND I WILL GIVE THEE A CROWN OF LIFE/ ORMELIE CAMPBELL HANNAY/ BORN DECEMBER 23RD 1848 GAVE HIS LIFE/ FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY, AND WAS KILLED/ IN ACTION AT PAARDEBURG SOUTH AFRICA, FEB 13TH/ 1900 WHEN GALLANTLY LEADING HIS BRIGADE OF/ MOUNTED INFANTRY. HE SERVED FOR 32 YEARS IN THE/ ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS AND/ COMMANDED THE BATTALION FROM 1893 - 1899/ "GRANT TO HIM, O GOD, ALL THAT HE NEEDS FOR HIS ETERNAL HAPPINESS/ IN THY BLESSED LOVE AND SERVICE, AND TO US TRUE REPENTANCE AND/ GRACE TO FOLLOW HIS GOOD EXAMPLE , THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD"/ THIS MEMORIAL IS A TOKEN OF DEEPEST LOVE FROM HIS WIFE AUGUSTA/ HIS SON ROBERT ORMELIE FRASER, HIS BROTHER IN LAW EVELYN HAY/ MURRAY, AND ELIZABETH FRANCES PALMER/ NEARER MY GOD TO THEE NEARER TO THEE
