IN MEMORY OF/ FRANCIS SEDGWICK/ 1872 - 1941 VICAR FOR 25 YEARS OF ST PHILLIPS/ CHURCH, HULL. CANON AND PREBEND OF WARTHILL/ YORK MINSTER FOR 43 YEARS./ HE WORKED AS A PRIEST OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND/ IN HULL AND FINALLY GAVE HIS LIFE IN THE AIR RAID/ ON THIS CITY ON THE 8TH MAY 1941 WHEN HIS CHURCH/ WAS DESTROYED AND MANY OF HIS PARISHIONERS WERE/ KILLED.
