Co-ordinator's Comments:

2006: A successful application made to the War Memorials Trust for restoration.

ORIGINAL PLANS WERE FOR A MEDICAL CENTRE AS WELL AS A MEMORIAL, BUT FUNDS WERE INSUFFICIENT. IN ADDITION, THERE WERE PROTESTS ABOUT THE USE OF CONTRACTORS FROM LIVERPOOL, RATHER THAN LOCALLY.

Comments:SEE "I DON'T WANT TO BE A SUNBEAM" BY HARRY JONES (CENOTAPH PUBLISHING, WIDNES, 1999) FOR A DETAILED AND WELL REASERCHED ACCOUNT OF THE LIVES OF THOSE LISTED.
